How the Style of Work has Changed

There’s plenty of discourse about how the physical workplace and how the location of working has changed. The style of work has changed a lot as well. While that’s no secret, I haven’t seen nearly has much talk about how most had to learn how to work differently in this new environment. The Harvard Business Journal recently published an article titled What Great Remote Managers Do Differently. Rather than micro-managing employees, these great managers are micro-understanding their employees. These managers are better at integrating themselves into a team instead of observing the team from an outsiders perspective. When they can insert themselves into the team, a great manager understands the trouble spots and guide the team into being more successful which leads to less headache for everyone involved.

According to the article, remote and hybrid employees have come to appreciate the role of a manager more since 2020. Since employees don’t feel like someone is watching over their shoulder, they feel more comfortable coming to their manager for coaching or when problems arise.

You should check out the full article - it’s a quick interesting read on how managerial tactics have changed, and what successful managers are doing.
